BALTIMORE — Lamar Jackson passed for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and the Baltimore Ravens denied Cincinnati on a two-point conversion with 38 seconds left to secure a 35-34 victory on Thursday night.
The Ravens (7-3) overcame a 21-7 deficit in the third quarter, managing to rally despite a standout performance from Cincinnati receiver Ja’Marr Chase. Chase finished with 11 receptions for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns, including a 5-yard score in the final minute that brought the Bengals (4-6) within one point. Cincinnati, which lost to Baltimore in overtime last month, chose to go for a two-point conversion to take the lead, but Joe Burrow’s pass to Tanner Hudson was off target.
Cincinnati had a chance to take control when they were up by 14 and had the ball in the third quarter, but a fumble by Chase Brown gave the Ravens a short field. Lamar Jackson’s impressive sideline scramble set up Derrick Henry’s 1-yard touchdown run.
In the fourth, Tylan Wallace turned a short pass into an 84-yard touchdown, staying just inbounds as two Bengals defenders failed to stop him. Justin Tucker missed the extra point, but the Ravens were only one point behind.
Cincinnati moved into Baltimore territory, but on both third-and-2 and fourth-and-2, Burrow’s deep passes fell incomplete. Jackson then gave the Ravens the lead with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Mark Andrews, and followed it up with a successful two-point conversion run.
Chase hauled in a deep 70-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 28 with 5:37 left, but the Ravens quickly responded with Lamar Jackson’s 5-yard touchdown pass to Rashod Bateman, putting Baltimore ahead 35-28 with 1:49 remaining.
Baltimore racked up 231 of its 389 total yards in the fourth quarter alone.
Jackson finished with 290 yards passing and four touchdowns, while Burrow threw for 428 yards and four touchdowns.
The Ravens lost All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton to an ankle injury late in the first half.
Cincinnati struck first with a 1-yard touchdown run by Chase Brown on the opening drive. Baltimore appeared to stop the Bengals on fourth down near the goal line, but a holding penalty on cornerback Brandon Stephens gave Cincinnati another chance.
The Ravens also used two timeouts on that initial drive, including one on an unsuccessful challenge.
Jackson later threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Nelson Agholor in the second quarter, but Cincinnati regained the lead with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Burrow to Tanner Hudson, right after Hamilton’s injury.
The Ravens made it to near midfield by the end of the first half, but with no timeouts remaining, the clock ran out on them.
Burrow connected with Chase for a 67-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter.
